Little Peggy came into the studio at just 9 days to have her newborn pictures captured.

Her mummy has grown up around horses and I am pretty sure little Peggy will follow suit once she is old enough to ride in a saddle. 

So instead of waiting years to capture Peggy in the saddle - I captured her on it!

Carefully positioning her onto the sheepskin cover, fast asleep I posed her safely on there with mum and dad spotting her at all times. 

I could not wait to start editing this session once it was finished, knowing that I had created something spectacular and extra special for mum. As eager as I was to post a sneak peek, I didn't want to ruin the surprise and waited until their next appointment in the studio to come and see their beautiful images for the first time. 

After the slide show finished, Mum & Dad were thrilled! if not a tad emotional with happy tears streaming down their cheeks, mum couldn't begin to explain how happy she was with her custom image and how well it turned out her little newborn girl, sleepy and posed upon her saddle.

It's moments like this when my clients are extremely happy with their precious images, and their emotions like this show this, I get that warming feeling inside knowing my work has made them this happy.

Tips for booking your Cake Smash session.

1. Book nice and early, especially if you require a weekend session as these fill rather fast
2. Choose your photographer based on their work, and style and recommendations! 
3. Choose or bake a cake that has lots & lots of sticky frosting - the messier the better.
4. Choose a cake your child will enjoy, there is no point of bringing a huge chocolate cake if your little one is not a huge chocolate fan.
5. Bring along anything you want to include in your session to make it more unique, if you have an idea, share it with me so I can plan ahead.
6. Sometimes Mummy's & Daddy's may need to get involved, please wear old clothing - just incase

Your little one WILL get rather sticky and messy, but don't panic. Our studio is fully equipped with a bathroom to make clean up easy and hassle free. 

Once your little one is nice and clean, we can then start the splash session, 15 mins bath time fun with bubbles infront of the camera! 

After all of the fun is over, you are invited back to our studio around 2-3 weeks after to see your images for the first time, this is where you choose your favourite images and your favourite products.

As a portrait photographer, this question pops up quite a lot prior to sessions on the phone consultation.

And with more and more maternity sessions becoming more popular, ladies want to look their best with their beautiful baby bumps. 

During pregnancy, ladies tend to feel, bloated and swollen and a great way to boost their self confidence and self esteem is to book a Pregnancy photo shoot, as well as stunning imagery of their changing body, a memory keepsake, or even just a record of how large their bumps were, it is my job to make 'YOU' feel amazing.

So you take the plunge, pick up the phone and book your session.........EEEEKKKK 'what do I wear?
If you were any thing like me during pregnancy, then nothing fitted, and if it fitted it was horrible and frumpy :-( 

What I suggest to ladies, wear just your skin, or underwear. If you feel a little insecure bring along a pair of jeans and your hubby's shirt, by the end of the shoot you are confident to show of your new beautiful shape.

some of you may have wondered, what actually is a cake smash? what does it involve?

I have put together some information on Cake Smash Photoshoots, and why they are so much fun!

Our Smash session's start with the traditional portrait's in their best outfit's (don't worry your little one ill have a chance to change before the cake is presented to them). 
We then change them into a smash outfit, for the fun part! Let your little one, touch, smell and eat the gooey chocolate cake with their curious little hands - they will love the freedom of being able to enjoy messy play and explore with their senses. Once your little one has finished - a quick clean up in our tin tub finishes off their session - all squeaky clean.

I loved Harrison's newborn session so much, he was so happy & smiley all the way through. I created some beautiful memories for Mummy & Daddy, and this one has to be my favourite smiley photo.

I love how he looks like he is dreaming away here, lovely and peaceful and relaxed.

Baby Ethan was a dream to photograph, he slept all the way through his session and we were done and dusted in 2 hours!

Here a few of my favourite photo's from his session - we even got the froggy pose! I have also included some behind the scenes to show how this difficult pose was executed so you can be assured that baby safety is my number one priority. 

Now below is the trade secret we love to share, only because there is evidence of this pose being copied with out the safety precautions and your baby could be injured if this is being carried out by untrained person's.

This pose MUST be a composite image. What is one of these? 
Well a composite are two individual images stitched together with the magic of photoshop.

Here you can see baby is fully supported by dad in the two bottom shots, so baby is comfortable and safe at all times. 

This has to be one of my favourite set ups at the minute with my new supercute american Ted, flown over from the U.S.A and my beautiful kidsilk romper set. 

And prop shot, he looks so adorable 'snoozing' in the well bucket with my knitted night cap and teddy.

Yesterday I got to capture Bella's first birthday Cake Smash session, after documenting her first year, from newborn all the way through to her first birthday I felt so emotional that this was the last session in her 1st year package.

Bella was a little un-settled during her Cake Smash (We think those little peggy's peeping through were to blame) so this smash ran a little different from usual.

After the first smash attempt I tried a different approach and the smiles and happiness was shining through, so back out came the ... well, half demolished cake for round two! this time she was much more happier and welcoming of the pink frosting, and even got to model two special smash outfits for her shoot.

Sometimes sessions don't always go to plan, my job is to work with this and achieve those shots.

Meet Isabelle, she was my first mini client to book our newborn mini session package.

The mini session package is perfect for parents wanting only a 'few' shots of their new baby.
This session lasts up to 1 hour (compared to the usual 2-4 hour full session). And is captured at my home studio. 

Your baby is not posed like with the full session; but does include 2-3 set ups and shots with both of the parents. Baby can also be awake or asleep for the session, and can be photographed after the advised two week window.

With this package - you receive your session, and your 5 favourite images as digital downloads, with the option to purchase additional copies or prints.
